ON THE BUS
Kontiki Tours, our Peruvian Agency provided for us all the way for our
trip, a
comfortable bus for us to take as we were traveling from location to location.
Rosario, our tour guide for Lima, pictured above spoke a very good English and
took us to several locations within Lima. Lima, she explained, was the
main
city and headquarters of the Spanish when they came and invaded South America
so there remains many Churches and Spanish buildings and architecture.

IN THE CENTRAL OF LIMA - NEAR THE PRESIDENTIAL PALACE
The first photo shows the Palace
where the President of Peru lives. There is a fence
outside of the building so only people allowed to visit can. Also there
are uniformed
guards in red, who are stationed outside. We came around noon when the
guards
change which is why there are people standing outside who wish to watch this
procession. The guards in the front with their back to us is a band.
In the last
photo, just above, our group member Des (from Gurnsey Island in the UK) and
Joshua have committed a grand offense as they have tried to break in to help
convince the Peruvian President to work in more peaceful ways and are being
arrested by one of the military police stationed outside - you know Joshua he
likes to do the unexpected but always finds a way to get into a bit of trouble.

In the first photo above, we see our group
looking around the square which is just
outside of the Presidential Palace. These photos are to show our readers
and
give an idea of what type of buildings exist in downtown Lima. One of the
styles
that is common are balconies everywhere
as you see in the bottom photo.
