Summary of Day 3
Travels
(Our third travel day of our tour was a
very full day as we left our hotel in Cusco
in the relatively early morning to visit two more temples (Kenko and Tambomachay)
in the mountains over Cusco and then headed to the Sacred Inca Valley in order
to be able to visit another sacred site in the mountains known as Ollantytambo.
On route to Ollantytambo, we made a stop at city which had a store that sold
many artifacts from cultures within Peru and boy did we receive a surprise.
In the evening, we stayed at a beautiful hotel in the Sacred Valley as we needed
to stay close to Ollantytambo, as on Day 4, we would head to Machu Picchu and
there was a local train station here which would take us there. Below is
more
details about the places we visited on this day and some interesting happenings
that took place, some very unexpected, we would dare say .................
The Site of Kenko is considered to be a temple - that when you enter
you are greeted by a large stone which archeological think might be an
astronomical observatory. The area in front of the stone is called the
amphitheater (possibly they
had some form of theater here) and also enclosed within the area is a cave that
has a large rock with a flat surface (perhaps for sacrifices?). In the
back of the temple
is what appears to be a chair in stone sometimes referred to as a "King's"
Chair.
Tambomachay has various stone structures which feature water springs that flow
throw the stones. It has also been referenced as the "Bath of the
Princess". It is
said that the waters that flow here are energized and it is a good place to
perform
special ceremonies. Unfortunately the springs were roped off so we could
not
access the waters here directly. We were able to energize our skulls here.
The Sacred Inca Valley or also known as the Urubamba Valley contains the
Urubamba
River and is a very fertile area to grow all kinds of crops especially Maize
(Corn) by
the Incas. There are various ancient sites in this valley including
Ollantytambo,
which we visited and another site called Pisac, which we didn't go to but has
some amazing stone temples and structures there. On our way to
Ollantytambo,
as stated, we did stop at a store that contained artifacts and low and behold,
the
owner had a very unusual stone skull (we were not sure of which material) that
he
stated came from the Chavin culture, which is a pre-Inca culture that existed in
the
northern part of Peru from purported 900-200 B.C. This skull had some very
interesting
symbols carved into it and our passenger Des, felt as if he had worked with this
skull
in a former lifetime as it really became activated when he held it (see photos).
Ollantytambo is a large stone structure consisting of many steps with a special
temple
on the top known as the "Lemurian Temple of Love" (6 large stones which show
some
type of engravings on it). In the mountains near the area of the stone
steps are seen
what appear as stone houses. It is known that the Incas used this area as a
ceremonial
center and also in the town below the ruins, are various stone water channels.)
Kenko
A Temple Above
Cusco
The first photo above, shows the gentlemen who
greeted us as we entered Kenko, a
local person dressed in an Inca Custom (but of course he was doing this to
receive
money for having your photo with him). The next two photos show the Sacred
tall stone which defines visually the site of Kenko (front & back view).
There are
people who will do ceremony around this stone. The fourth photo shows our
group
listening to Beni and Renato discussing what Kenko represents and in the last
picture our group is relaxing in the open area around this main stone which is
called the amiphitheater

Kenko
(The Cave, King's Chair)
As
stated, within another part of Kenko inside of stones is a cave. The top
photo
shows our group walking to enter the cave. As you can see from the next
two
pictures, within the cave is a large flat stone, here we placed our crystal
skulls
and did a brief meditation. The stone structure as called the "King's
Chair" is
next which is in the back of Kenko. And we also saw men working on the
site
during our visit as the Peruvian Government continues to excavate the sites
to discover more artifacts left by former cultures who lived in this area.

Tambomachay
(Ceremonial Center with Water Springs)
Next, we visit the temple area
called Tambomachay - as you can see in the first photo
here as we come to the front entrance. Not far from this entrance was a
local woman
dress in traditional Peruvian clothes, spinning her yarn to make new clothes and
watching
over a llama and some small lambs. For the local Peruvian people, their
animals are
a very important part of the livelihood of their lives. We see Katrina and
Susan,
a member of our group meeting the llama. The next photo shows the main
stone
structure where the water spring is and following is a shot of the whole team of
spiritual explorers. The 6th photo shows the main to water springs - the
left side
is considered feminine and the right masculine but visitors are no longer
allowed to
be able to touch this water. All we could do, as was shown in the last
photo,
is place our crystal skulls in a water channel in front of the springs so at
least
they could have contact with the water of this site. Crystal Skull
appreciate
very much to touch the energies of many different bodies of water in the world.
