This page will show you some of the most important sites in the feminine side or right side of Machu Picchu.

In 1995, a new archaeological dig at Machu Picchu made a discovery that appears to answer the more then 80 year old question of why Machu Picchu was built and located high in the Andes Mountains.

In excavating a previously unknown cave located in the Condor Temple, the expedition uncovered a series of caves culminating in a deep, narrow hole that had been covered with a rich loamy soil.

Condor Temple

The Incas believed that man was molded from clay by Pachacamac "the creator", who then placed these molds into the depths of the earth and had them re-emerge from caves, springs and lakes throughout the lands.

The members of the expedition theorized that the Incas performed religious ceremonies at this site, re-enacting their creation myth. It is believed that this area of Machu Picchu was a sacred huaca (the Andes people viewed Mother Earth as alive with supernatural forces, the special places where theses forces where worshipped were called huacas), and was worshipped as the point where life began, emerging out of the ground. Based on this hypothesis the site was renamed by this expediton members, "The Temple of Life."

I personaly have meditated many times at the entrance of the cave locaded in the Temple of the Condor, now also known as the Temple of Life, and comunicated with the light beings that live inside this huaca. There is no doubt in my mind that the library Chuma mentioned to us will be found inside one of the huacas of Machu Picchu. However, as she was very clear, this will not happen before humanity is ready.

The caves are still closed and I believe will remain so as long as the light beings that live inside are there to protect the sacred library of Machu Picchu and its sacred wisdom.

North of the Condor Temple we will find the houses of the Priestesses and some houses designated for special individual initiations. Also the house of the Chosen Woman, where a stone bed is shaped in such a way that as a person lays down and find the right position for their spine, there is a feeling of melting into the earth and becoming one with Pacha Mama "Mother Earth". It is a feeling of healing, balance and peace.

Also in the house of the Chosen Woman there is a big stone eye that was used as a divination tool

At the end of the feminine side of Machu Picchu, we finally find the Pacha Mama Temple. Notice that this Temple is formed from part of the Apu "mountain" behind it.
There are many Temples in Machu Picchu that represent the Apus that surround this University

Behind the Pacha Mama Temple starts the trail to climb Huayna Picchu, one of the guarden Apus of Machu Picchu. This trek takes about 1 and 1/2 hours to climb to the top of this mountain. At the top, we can see a large portion of this valley of mountains and the shape of Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is seen as a Humming Bird. The Humming Bird is a special bird to the Incas.
