Introduces All-Natural Sweetener
HOUSTON, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Nutrition For Life International, Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLI) today announced that it will introduce
Ki-Sweet(TM), an all- natural sweetener made from kiwi fruit, at the Company's Mind &
Body Institute product symposium to be held in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on June 6, 1998.
Ki-Sweet(TM) is the first product of its kind made from kiwi fruit. It offers healthier
benefits over the widely-used glucose and sucrose-based sweeteners. Most natural
sweeteners on the market today are made from high- glycemic ingredients, and the
artificial sweeteners can contain chemicals and other substances. Ki-Sweet(TM) is made
from 100% natural kiwi fruit with no additives or preservatives. It is low glycemic; it
does not significantly elevate blood sugar or insulin levels, making it safe for
diabetics, hypoglycemics, pregnant or lactating mothers, and children. Ki-Sweet(TM)
contains no fat or calories per serving, and is ten times sweeter than sugar with no
aftertaste or bitterness. In its raw concentrated form, Ki-Sweet(TM) is 200 times sweeter
than sugar.
"We are extremely pleased to make Ki-Sweet(TM) available to health- conscious
consumers through our network of independent distributors," commented Jana Mitcham,
Executive Vice President and Host of the Mind and Body Institute. "It is a
breakthrough product that can make a difference in the quality of life for the many people
who desire or require a healthful way of eating."
Ki-Sweet(TM) was developed by Dr. Ann de Wees Allen, Technical
Consultant to Nutrition For Life International, Inc. and Chief of Biomedical Research at
the Glycemic Research Institute in Washington, DC. Ki-Sweet(TM) carries the Seal of
Approval from the Glycemic Research Institute as well as a special designation from the
American Diabetes Association.
Dr. Allen is a Doctor of Naturopathy, and a distinguished professional with fifteen years
of in-depth research in the field of amino acids, the glycemic index, thermogenesis and
nutritional adjuncts to cancer treatment. She has served as personal nutritionist to the
1995 Pan American Games Gold Medal Winner, the 1994-1995 Mr. Universe, Mr. Olympia, and
Olympic athletes. Her patent-pending L-Arginine growth hormone releasing formula is
designed for professional athletes and used in conjunction with the Human Maximum
Performance program. Dr. Allen also serves as Director of Nutrition Science to Women's
Fitness International(TM) magazine.
